The discovery on a body on a beach in Cornwall is being treated as “unexplained”, police have confirmed

Officers were called on Saturday, to the discovery of a person’s body found near the town of Looe.

Police have confirmed they do not believe the death is a result of foul play. 

A spokesperson said: “Police were called around 1.50pm on Saturday 18 January following the discovery of a person’s body at Downderry Beach, Torpoint.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but not currently thought suspicious.

“Enquiries are being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, the identity of the person and to trace their next of kin.”
