Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley are all Ravens fans and two of them took in the game
There were some sad NFL fans on hand at Raptors practice on Monday.
Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley attended Sunday’s Buffalo Bills win over the Baltimore Ravens at Orchard Park, N.Y. — but weren’t cheering on the Bills.
Quickley, Toronto’s starting point guard, hails from Havre de Grace, Md., about 60 km northeast of Baltimore, so naturally he supports the Ravens.
Barnes has sported Lamar Jackson jerseys at media conferences in the past and once said on TikTok that he became a fan simply because his brother loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and he wanted to mess with him.
“I was hating,” Barnes explained.
Additionally, current star Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers, who wasn’t able to play against the Bills due to a knee injury, was a high school basketball teammate of Barnes.
RJ Barrett also was smarting Monday, since he’s a Baltimore fan for a different reason.
“My favourite player is Derrick Henry (the future hall of fame running back),” Barrett explained.
On the other hand, the Raptor most commonly thrilled with NFL results, Kansas City native Gradey Dick, once again was smiling with his Chiefs heading to a seventh straight AFC championship game.
Dick was confident about the matchup against the Bills, a team Kansas City has dominated over the years in the playoffs.
“Been there before,” Dick said.
Asked if it’s difficult being a Chiefs fan in this market, Dick said he actually enjoys it.
“No, it’s not tough. It’s actually fun that way, I like being on the other side of it,” Dick said. “Good to brag a little bit.”
He didn’t talk any trash to his teammates though.
“(Quickley) and Scottie are pretty down today about the loss, but so it goes sometimes,” he said.
