Paramount+ has made the unexpected decision to cancel the revival of the hit sitcom after just two seasons.
This will likely be devastating news for legend , who has called his role in the new show “heart-stoppingly wonderful”.
The reboot premiered in October 2023 and wrapped up its second season two months ago.
Now that Paramount+ have confirmed they will not be proceeding with a third season, CBS Studios is actively shopping the show to other networks.
The Frasier revival brought the beloved character back to Boston, where he reconnected with his estranged son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).

Frasier also embarked on a new chapter as a professor at Harvard University. star Nicholas Lyndhurst played Alan Cornwall, Frasier’s witty college friend and fellow academic.
Other cast members included Toks Olagundoye as the head of Harvard’s psychology department, Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s roommate, and Anders Keith as Frasier’s quirky nephew David.
Patricia Heaton also joined the ensemble in the second season as Holly, a potential love interest for Frasier.

The first season received three Emmy nominations but failed to secure a win.
Despite this, lead star Kelsey Grammar had high hopes for the series, expressing his ambition to create “another 100 episodes at least” in a 2023 interview with Variety.
He told the magazine: “There’s enough groundwork laid between these human beings; they are wonderful characters. I want to see where they go. And I want to see what happens to Frasier.”
Prime Video and Hulu are reportedly strong contenders to buy the rights for the third season of the series because they are already streaming the original Frasier episodes.

NBC might also express interest, as it is the network that aired the original series.
For now, fans can still stream both seasons of the revival and the original series of Frasier on Paramount+.
Nicholas Lyndhurst is best known for his role as Rodney Trotter in Only Fools and Horses, but the actor has earned praise for his portrayal of Alan Cornwall in the Frasier reboot.
The cancellation will likely be a disappointment for the actor, who had embraced this new chapter in his career.

He previously told RadioTimes that he was “very pleased” to be part of the reboot.
Nicholas added: “It’s absolutely wonderful to be here for now. I’m in my mid-60s – at this stage of my career, I wasn’t expecting to be walking through the gates of Paramount Pictures every morning.
“I probably pinch myself every 20 minutes in this job, because working with Kelsey and working in this building is heart-stoppingly wonderful.”
