Mark Chapman hints where his MOTD money is going five years after being widowed

New host Mark Chapman looks like he’s already making the most of his imminent salary rise. The 51-year-old will replace as host of the famous highlights show next season, .

Chapman is already a renowned figure in television, currently presenting Match of the Day 2 as well as the Beeb’s highlights.

He also works regularly on Radio 5 Live, and fronts Sky Sports’ Carabao Cup action.

His current salary is said to be in the region of £260,000 a figure dwarfed by Lineker’s £1.35million-per-year wage. But he already appears to be making the most of his new deal after being seen house hunting with his partner, Clere Collier.

The pair have been spotted looking in estate agents’ windows in Altrincham. Chapman is initially from Rochdale, and was schooled in Manchester before attending Hull University.

Chapman, 51, has found happiness with Collier some five years on from losing his wife, Sara. They married in 2001 and lived together in Hale, Manchester, until she died from cancer in 2020.

The couple had three children together, Ben, Jessie and Millie. They were aged just 17, 12 and six when their mother passed away.

In October last year, Collier posted on as the fan celebrated his birthday. She uploaded a picture of the two on a long walk together, and praised Chapman with her caption.

“Happy birthday to this one. My one love,” she said. “So proud of all you do, the biggest heart, the kindest soul, the leader of our pack and not to mention devilishly handsome. I love you, happy 51.”

Chapman started dating Collier early on 2024, despite the 43-year-old running an international property empire in Dubai. The mother-of-two makes regular UK trips for work and to spend time with him in Manchester.

Chapman was immediately installed as the favourite to take over from Lineker on MOTD when news broke in November that Lineker would be stepping down at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. Despite , he has since agreed to split duties between himself, Cates, and Logan.
