Lorraine Kelly ‘should give up ITV show’ as Express readers hit out at absences

Fans of have spoken and said that should step down from her self-titled talk show. The Scottish host has been at the helm of her own programme since 2010, spending her mornings speaking to star-studded line ups.

Over the past 15 years, the 65-year-old has interviewed some of the biggest stars and unsung heroes. However, in recent years, viewers have noticed that she is often absent – handing over the presenting reigns to the likes of Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard.

With this in mind, Express.co.uk asked their readers if they The results from the poll were heavily balanced towards a resounding “yes”.

A whopping 682 readers voted that Lorraine should call it a day on her show, while 122 readers disagreed and voted for “no”. Meanwhile, 17 readers did not seem bothered either way as they chose “I don’t know”.

The mum-of-one recently welcomed her first grandchild. As she celebrated her 65th birthday over the summer, she became a grandmother for the first time as her daughter, Rosie, gave birth to a little girl, Billie.

At the time, the TV presenter revealed when she will decide to retire from her lengthy presenting career.

Speaking to Woman’s Own, she explained: “I’ve always said if the day comes when I don’t really want to go to work, I will stop.

“This year has been amazing, but obviously the most wonderful, uplifting thing was the birth of Billie. I would live in the garden, in a hut, just to get cuddles.”

In another interview, with chatting about her four-decade long career in TV, Lorraine said: “I’d like to keep on doing my show for as long as people want to watch.”

She continued: “I didn’t expect to still be here (on television) at 65, but I am so happy to be doing the job I love after 40 years.

“It’s wonderful and it’s down to all the fantastic people I have worked with, my top team and the viewers who have been so loyal and shown me such support.”
