Kid Rock told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend” show that Donald Trump phoned him on Friday to talk about his then-upcoming performance at the “Make America Great Again Victory Rally,” which took place Sunday on the eve of the president-elect’s second inauguration.
The outspoken conservative musician, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, had previously joked about strippers joining him on stage at the event.
“I got a call from the president and [returning First Lady] Melania [Trump] and it was kind of mind-blowing,” he admitted on Fox News.
“I’ve tried to leave him alone, he’s got a lot on his plate, I would think, right now, to find the time to call to shoot the junk with me,” he continued. “He called and he goes, ‘Did the Secret Service really tell you that you can’t use strippers?’”
Kid Rock said he replied to Trump: “No, sir, I was just joking around.”
“Ah, that’s funny, that’s funny” Trump reportedly replied.
On the same call, Kid Rock said Trump also talked with him about whether to hold his inauguration ceremony indoors due to the freezing cold weather forecast for Monday.
Trump reportedly told him: “Let me ask you a question, people could really have a bad experience, maybe some people could get hurt, our first responders, what do you think about me moving the inauguration indoors?”
Kid Rock said he was shocked that he was being asked for input.
He pointed at himself and said, “I’m like, uhhhhh.”
