What is Suits: L.A. about?
According to the show’s logline, the legal drama follows Amell’s character as he tries to steer his firm:
“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”
The original series followed Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, and Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, as a big city, cutthroat lawyer, and his protege, a fraud with photographic memory who never attended law school.
The show famously propelled Meghan Markle, who played Rachel Zane, to stardom, and saw a boost in streaming after Markle married Prince Harry.
Who stars in Suits: L.A.?
Amell will play lawyer Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, which hints at possible connections to the original cast of characters from Suits, which was set in New York.
Josh McDermitt will play Stuart Lane, co-founder of the firm. Lex Scott Davis is lawyer Erica Rollins, and Bryan Greenberg plays Rick Dodsen, Ted’s protege.

Why did Suits: L.A. production move from Vancouver down to Los Angeles?
In the ongoing battle between California and British Columbia over film productions, it was a hefty tax credit that lured the Suits: L.A. production down to, well, L.A.
According to a California Film Commission report released in late 2024, the state awarded $12 million USD in tax incentives to the Suits: L.A. production for moving south.
The production was projected to spend $25 million USD in wages and create some 2,600 new jobs in California.
