This weekend saw the first celebrity of the season being eliminated from . Fans at home watched on as Waterloo Road star Chelsee Healey and her professional partner Andy Buchanan were voted off the – but they couldn’t help making a suggestion to show bosses.
Fans realised that they were not as tantalised as usual while watching – for one very specific reason. Taking to social media, viewers pointed out that the show was missing an “evil” judge.
This year, the judging panel consists of ice skating icons , as well as Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo and presenter Oti Mabuse. But fans thinlk that the critics need to be shaken up a bit, with a new personality added.
Posting to X/Twitter, one fan complained: “I’ve just realised why this show has become so dull… it’s missing an evil judge. Bring back Jason Gardiner yawn #dancingonice.”
Another echoed: “One thing #DancingOnIce is missing these days is the harsh but honest judge. The /Simon Cowel/Jason Gardener type. All the current judges are too nice.”

“Been saying this for a few years now. On shows like SCD/DOI, I’d argue the judges scores/comments is just as important as the performances.
“We need someone critical, someone to boo, someone to give a 3 when others give a 6, someone to disagree and be a bit critical. Need Jason!,” a third agreed.
But not everyone was in the same boat as they thought that former judge, Jason Gardiner, was sometimes previously “too mean”. One fan wrote: “Not Jason. He was too horrible.”

Fans think that the show needs a ‘nasty’ judge
The former Dancing on Ice judge quit the show in 2019. He was known for being controversial in his opinions and his acid tongue putdowns.
Confirming his departure, he explained in an post: “After all these years I feel it’s time for me to say goodbye to my judging role and return to things I have been putting on hold and have been on the back burner for a while.
“To all of my DOI fans I really thank you for your support and encouragement over the years, I know we’ve gone through some controversies and I’m glad you got my unique judging style and honestly.”
