Carol Decker ‘upset’ about unexpected exit from ITV’s The Masked Singer

Carol Decker of The Masked Singer UK has confessed she was “upset” about her departure from the show, admitting it caught her off guard.

The T’Pau frontwoman faced elimination after a sing-off with Dressed Crab on Saturday (January 18) night’s episode, resulting in Tattoo being the fourth to be unmasked, revealing Carol as the talent behind the costume.

During an appearance on This Morning with and Cat Deeley on Monday (January 20), Carol shared her feelings about her unexpected exit, expressing a sense of bewilderment.

“I was a bit bemused because I was very confident in my performances. So, when I ended up in the bottom two, I’ve got to say, I was a little shocked,” she admitted.

She reflected on her sing-off with Dressed Crab, acknowledging their “But I had a great sing-off with Dressed Crab, who had a charismatic voice, a good voice, so you can’t be too arrogant about it.”, reports .

while also noting, “But I was a little shocked. I hate saying this, but my team were quite upset because they weren’t expecting it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, I was having the most fun and was a bit gutted, to be honest.”

Carol also delved into her “fantastic” journey on the show, spilling some backstage secrets. Upon joining the cast, she was immediately captivated by Tattoo’s “gorgeous” design after being presented with various character sketches.

“The process behind everything, the costume department – it’s off the scale,” Carol enthused.

“There’s all the secrecy. You’ve got to meet up for your song choice meetings, your vocal coaching, a little bit of choreography, what they’ve got planned for your different songs. So, it takes up the whole of your summer. It’s fantastic.”

The celebrity also shared how singing while donned in costume posed “very difficult” challenges, as her vision was limited to just a light at the back of the studio, serving as her sole point of reference.
