A yellow weather warning has been issued for the island of Lanzarote
State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow for the top Canary Island destination of for rough seas.
Wave heights are expected to range from four to five metres on Tuesday (January 21), weather forecasts predict.
Residents and tourists are advised to “exercise caution” in coastal areas, especially in regions most exposed to rough sea conditions.
They also warn to watch out for warning flags in the colour of the island’s .
Authorities have recommended avoiding unnecessary activities near the coast during this period, such as climbing on rocks and taking pictures in dangerous areas.

The warnings also cover the entire coastlines of the other Canary Islands of El Hierroa, La Palma, La Gomera, and .
The northern coastlines of and Gran Canaria are also under yellow alerts.
Yellow flags on beaches warn bathers of moderate sea conditions, while red flags indicate that swimming is not allowed.
On Monday (January 20), skies started clear and will gradually turn cloudy throughout the day.
Minimum temperatures are forecast to drop slights, while maximum temperatures remain stable.
