‘s inauguration was aired on several different channels in the UK, sparking outrage from viewers.
Mr Trump has been sworn in as the 47th US President, returning to power for a second term on Monday (January 20).
The Republican’s inauguration was broadcast on One, with presenters and Sophie Raworth presenting live from Washington DC.
Coverage was also shown on and featured on , leading viewers to question why it needed to be shown on so many channels.
Taking to social media with their complaints, one wrote: “Why in gods name are most of uk channels showing #Trumps inauguration? I’m sure #Trump will do a decent job but I don’t want to watch this c**p. Many of us don’t care.”
Another agreed: “Why do # and #ITV think the British public need to have the inauguration on both channels!”
Echoing this, a third posted: “Why the frig is #Trump’s #Inauguration on@ITV, #Channel5 and the @?? Totally OTT.”
Another viewer said: “If they want this showed on the news channel, fine. I don’t see why One, ITV One and Channel Five all need to have it on instead of their regular schedule. I don’t recall this for Biden, Obama, Bush or the last Trump inauguration.”
A fifth shared an image of someone switching off a television, adding the caption: ” One and ITV1 viewers of the Trump Inauguration.”
During his speech, Mr Trump claimed he was “saved by God to make America great again”.
He said: “My recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal and all of these many betrayals that have taken place, and to give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy, and indeed, their freedom. From this moment on America’s decline is over.
The president continued: “Our liberties and our nation’s glorious destiny will no longer be denied, and we will immediately restore the integrity, competency and loyalty of America’s government.
“Over the past eight years, I have been tested and challenged more than any president in our 250 year history, and I’ve learned a lot along the way.”
Mr Trump went on: “The journey to reclaim our republic has not been an easy one, that I can tell you. Those who wish to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom and indeed to take my life.
“Just a few months ago, in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear, but I felt then and believe even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”
