BBC Call the Midwife fans ‘fear’ exit for legend after 13 years on show

Call the Midwife fans have been left ‘fearing’ Timothy Turner has left the period drama as he has been missing during recent episodes. The hit show returned for two festive installments in December before launching another gripping series on Sunday, January 5.

The episodes are now set in 1970 with the nuns and nurses of Poplar dealing with a challenging array of medical needs, and births. Actor Max Macmillan plays Patrick’s eldest son from his first marriage, Timothy, who is training to be a doctor just like his dad.

Timothy has been a part of Call the Midwife since the Christmas special in 2012, and viewers have seen him grow from a sweet boy into a young man.

During his first scene, the young schoolboy waits for his dad in the car whilst he attends to an older lady in dire need of medical attention.

Fast forward to the season 10 finale, which aired in May 2021, Timothy prepared to leave home to join a medical school in Edinburgh, following in the footsteps of his GP dad and said goodbye to his siblings and his mum Shelagh Turner (Laura Main).

Don’t miss…

Timothy’s real mum, Mrs. Marianne Turner, passed away from cancer sometime in 1957, as explained in the 2012 Christmas special, and he now regards former nun Shelagh as his mum after she married his father.

After leaving Poplar to go to medical school, Timothy returned to his family home in the 2023 Christmas Special, but there is sadly no sign of him this year and no update leaving fans concerned.

Taking to X, one fan asked: “Not to worry anyone but where’s Timothy Turner? #callthemidwife.”

A second pointed out: “#callthemidwife whats happened to Timothy Turner? He wasn’t in the xmas special and not in the new series so far.”

A third chimed in: “#CallTheMidwife Where is Timothy Turner? I can’t even remember if he disappeared somewhere in the previous series or if something happened to him.”

“And that’s it for this week-See you same time next week for Episode 4 and a new arrival (although if Nancy, Timothy and Cyril can hurry back before this series ends that would be great) #CallTheMidwife”, added another.

Call the Midwife currently airs at 8pm on One and iPlayer
