The US publication did not hold back from reviewing the couple’s life in America as part of a feature marking the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s five-year anniversary since quitting royal duties.
As well as taking a look at various deals they have had commercially since setting up home in Montecito, the article also took a look behind-the-scenes by interviewing a number of people, including those that have worked with the couple.
Neighbours in Montecito were also invited to share their verdicts on the couple, who are reportedly hardly ever seen in the area.

A source told the publication: “She’s constantly playing checkers – I’m not even going to say chess – but she’s just very aware of where everybody is on her board. And when you are not in, you are to be thrown to the wolves at any given moment.”
It was also claimed that some staff members needed “extended breaks from work” after being employed by the Duchess, with this not being the first time she had received complaints from employees.

Harry and Meghan made employees sign NDA’s
The publication also claimed that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, made employees sign non-disclosure agreements despite Meghan’s often preaching the importance of using one’s own voice.

Prince Harry reportedly did not seem engaged with Spotify
Harry wasn’t keen on Spotify
A source also told Vanity Fair that never seemed engaged with Spotify or the idea of making his own podcast, despite having some ideas himself about interviewing people like Putin to find out why they are the way they are.
A former Spotify employee told the publication that engaging Harry was “challenging. “Another person who interviewed for a job with the couple said, “I just felt like he kind of didn’t want to be there doing that at this time.
“My expectation was ‘charming receiving line.’ And it was clear he wasn’t that person. At least that day.”
Another source said: “He looks like the kind of guy who would, frankly, happily work for charities for the rest of his life and would be very happy if Meghan made all the money and he didn’t need to.”
Prince Harry released Spare in 2023
Harry did not understand impact of Spare
It was also reported by sources that did not understand the impact Spare would have on the Royal Family when it was published in 2023.
It is believed the bombshell memoir was one of the main reasons why the duke is no longer on talking terms with his brother , 42. In the book, he had accused William of physically attacking him.
Talking about whether Harry understood how the memoir could damage relationships between him and royal relatives, a source told Vanity Fair: “I don’t know if that’s something he understood while he was doing it.”
Sources have said Meghan is more interested in fame than Prince Harry
Harry does not want to be famous the way Meghan does
Although the couple have been accused of wanting to be famous in a celebrity fashion rather than as a result of their royal links, Vanity Fair said that sources revealed how Harry does not crave fame the way Meghan, a former actress, does.
This has already been hinted at in recent months as they have begun to attend more events solo, with Harry favouring charity work and Meghan heading for the red carpets.
Someone who worked with the couple in media projects told Vanity Fair: “I think Harry doesn’t know what he wants because he grew up in a fishbowl, and so he doesn’t know what real life really is.
“I think he probably wants to be left alone and be able to go kiss babies every once in a while but not have to worry about money. I don’t think he wants to be famous the way Meghan wants to be famous.”
Harry and Meghan are deeply in love
Despite swirling divorce rumours, sources revealed that the couple’s love life has not hit a rocky patch in their lives.
A source who has worked closely with the couple said: “They are so hot for each other. Like, you know how you meet those couples where you’re like, the way they’re looking at each other, I should probably not be here right now?”
Harry recently shut down divorce rumours himself at an event according to the media.
The couple have also been after the recent LA wildfires.
One person said they think Meghan knew more about the Royal Family than she let on
Meghan Markle’s controversial claim about Royal Family rubbished
Sources who know Meghan also told Vanity Fair that they struggle to believe she knew very little about and the Royal Family before dating the prince, a narrative Meghan has always spoken about.
Tom Fitzgerald, a fashion and cultural commentator, said: “Meghan is the type of woman who would check a menu out online before going to a restaurant to pick what she was going to eat.
“So the idea that she didn’t know she was supposed to curtsy for the queen, I just didn’t find it particularly believable, because [based on] everything she ever told us about herself, I cannot imagine that she went into meeting the Royal Family completely cold, with no research whatsoever.”
Harry and Meghan have lived in Montecito for five years
