A new study has revealed the most expensive jobs for , with drivers in certain roles forced to pay hundreds more for the same level of cover.
Whilst the is still gradually falling, it is still one of the most expensive costs involved in running a vehicle, with motorists paying an average of £861 per year during the third quarter of 2024.
Greg Wilson, founder and CEO of the price comparison service , highlighted that a driver’s job is a key factor in determining the cost.
He explained: “Our data sheds some light on how car insurance is calculated, and whilst it’s good news for teachers, nurses and HGV drivers, it also raises questions for those in .
“While statistical data is , there is scope to explore potential savings, helping customers understand their policy and their risks.”

According to Quotezone.co.uk’s study, the most expensive job for car insurance is a warehouse worker, with employees facing an average premium of £1,371.67.
One of the main reasons why warehouse workers face such high insurance costs could be due to the danger they face in their daily lives.
Other potentially dangerous roles also feature on the list, including chefs, who are typically faced with a yearly charge of £1,279.44.

No matter their job, drivers could still save a considerable amount of money on their car insurance by playing around with different job titles.
A number of financial advice services, such as Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert, tools that offer similar alternatives that could be perceived as having a lower risk.
Nevertheless, drivers must make sure that the role they use on their car insurance form still accurately represents the job they have, else they risk the firm refusing to pay out.
