shocked fans last week when he announced the end of his 23-year marriage to Daily Express columnist Mindy. The pair began dating 28 years ago, got married in 2002 and welcomed two daughters.
According to reports, Mindy decided to end the marriage, and the Top Gear star, 55, has moved out of their £7 million mansion.
On January 9, : “A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently.
“Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters. We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created.
“We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope that our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time. With love, Richard and Mindy.”

In 2020, Mindy opened up about their life together and divulged one of their big differences.
She wrote in a during the lockdown: “Many of us are, in our heads, much younger than we are in reality.
“For example, in my head I’m 19, although possibly not quite as naive as I was then, and Richard has often admitted to being still 12, which he claims is a not uncommon state for many men. I guess there are a couple of his colleagues who might share his opinion.
“There is a problem with this, though. 12-year-old boys are easily bored and months of living under house arrest was inevitably going to take its toll.”

Their 23-year marriage faced several hurdles due to Richard’s horrifying car accidents.
Back in 2006, the host spent two weeks in a coma after crashing a jet-powered Vampire Dragster at nearly 320mph while filming for Top Gear.
11 years later, Richard ended up in hospital for six days when he crashed a Rimac Concept One in Switzerland during the second series of The Grand Tour.

A source told MailOnline: “Richard has been through an awful lot and the knock-on effect from the crashes has impacted his relationship.
“It’s understandable given the sheer magnitude of the accidents and the impact caused both physically and mentally, he’s done so well to recover and get back to normal life.
“But they have changed him, there’s no getting away from it, and his relationship with Mindy has been harmed during the fallout.”
