When it comes to stars of major drama series, Joanne Froggatt is up there with some of the most notable.
The actress, who’s known for her roles in and Liar, has graced our screens in many major roles, and she’s currently in ‘s Saturday night drama North Shore. It actually started as an Australian mystery crime thriller television series, but it’s now being aired in the UK.
The show focuses on British and Australian detective teams which are forced to work together to investigate the murder of the British trade minister’s daughter. They have to uncover the details of a complex investigation while also facing culture clashes.
But, even though Froggatt has been a regular on our screens for years, it seems people are forgetting that she first started out in a very popular British TV show. If you’re a fan of the soaps, you may recall she played the part of Zoe Tattersall in between 1997 and 1998.
Before this she even managed to bag a role in an episode of The Bill in 1996. It’s easy to forget where some of our biggest stars come from sometimes when they go onto achieve so much in their careers.

Clips sometimes resurface of classic on to remind people of her time in the soap. Fans of the show admitted they haven’t seen the clips “for years”, but they seem to have jogged their memory a little.
Many people have also chatted about the success of former actors on . One wrote: “Rob James-Collier and Joanne Froggat are both alumni who later starred in Downton Abbey. JF also starred in the Dark Angel mini series and other highly regarded programmes.”
Someone else said: “Just watching the 2017/2020 ITV drama, ‘Liar’ and it has both Joanne Froggatt and Katherine Kelly in it. Both wonderful in their roles.”
In more recent years, Froggatt has also starred in Angela Black, Sherwood and Breathtaking. For those who are fans of classic comedies, she also took on the role of Anthony’s girlfriend, Saskia, in a Christmas special of The Royle Family back in 2010.

Now 44, the actress welcomed her first baby into the world last year. She split from her ex-husband James Cannon in 2020 following eight years together.
Froggatt tied the knot with Cannon – an IT consultant – in Oxford in 2012 and they created a production company called Run It together. At the moment, it’s believed she’s working on a new project called The Associate.
This is a working title of an upcoming American crime drama television series created by Ronan Bennett, and he’s set to write the whole series. The show actually started out as The Donovans but, over time, it’s been developed into a standalone story.
