Glenn Close reveals the film she thinks people 1st realized she ‘could be sexy’

In her 50-year career, Glenn Close has taken on many roles. She’s played everything from a sassy grandma in “The Deliverance” to an evil designer in “101 Dalmatians.” While she’s worn multiple hats in career, Close said when it comes to showcasing her sex appeal, there’s one film that stands out: “Fatal Attraction.”

“I think it was the first time people realized I could be sexy,” she told Willie Geist on the Jan. 19 episode of “Sunday Sitdown.”

The 1987 psychological thriller follows Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas), a lawyer who cheats on his wife (Anne Archer) with a colleague, Alex Forrest (Glenn Close). Their romance is cut short after Dan decides to abruptly end their tryst, which prompts Alex to stalk him and his family.

Speaking of the her time in Hollywood, Close said she “always felt like I’m a bit of an outsider.”

“I still feel like I’m an outsider,” Close continued. “I still feel there’s caverns of the unknown in me and I’m still waiting for the roles that demand everything ‘cause they’re few and far between.”

“The Wife” actor admitted that she “never felt” like she could live in Hollywood because it would “shred” her. But, she explained, being an outsider wasn’t necessarily all that bad because it pushed her to succeed and helped her find like-minded people in L.A.

“I think there’s still discoveries to be made. We just have to find the right team,” she said.

Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, Close moved with her family to Switzerland at seven years old. As a young girl, the actor said she had an “incredibly active imagination” that helped her realize what she wanted to do for a living.

After studying theater at The College of William & Mary, Close made her way to Broadway where she gave a Tony-nominated performance in 1980’s “Barnum.” This essentially helped her secure her first big movie role in “The World According to Garp” in which she earned her first Academy Award nomination.

Since then, Close has starred in many more movies, including “Dangerous Liaisons” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Most recently, she’s taken on the role of Cameron Diaz’s character’s mom Ginny in Jamie Foxx and Diaz’s new action flick “Back in Action.”

When asked what it’s like working alongside them, Close said it’s been nothing but fun.
