Frozen food retailer recalls sausage rolls over severe allergy risk
Shoppers have been urged to check the packaging on frozen sausage rolls purchased recently from Farmfoods.
The savoury pastry snacks were named in a recent by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) due to an issue with labelling ingredients.
A statement issued by the FSA read: “David Wood Baking Ltd recalls Farmfoods 50 Cocktail Sausage Rolls because of undeclared milk.”
This means the product poses a risk to those intolerant or to milk or milk constituents, particularly as, according to the British Dietic Association, allergic reactions to milk can be delayed, so a reaction may occur sometime after consuming the allergen.
Immediate allergy symptoms may include an itchy rash, redness or hives (nettle rash), swelling, runny nose, itchy eyes, coughing, vomiting, swallowing, or breathing difficulties (rare).

Farmfoods issued an allergy warning on the product due to undeclared milk
Delayed allergy symptoms may include diarrhoea, constipation, reflux, profuse vomiting, mucus, blood in stools, nausea, abdominal (tummy) pain, bloating, painful wind, and eczema.
It is a legal requirement for manufacturers to state whether cow’s milk (and other common allergens) is present in a product. This is usually highlighted in bold on the ingredients list, but there was an error on certain Farmfoods sausage rolls.
