has been slapped with a hefty fine that amounts to more than half of his prize money due to his unsportsmanlike behaviour at Melbourne Park.

The three-time finalist was ousted from the tournament in the second round after a five-set defeat to American prodigy Learner Tien.

The Russian’s on-court antics included a point penalty for racket throwing and skipping the obligatory post-match press conference.

He was hit with a £54,000 fine, one of the largest in Grand Slam history, for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Additionally, he was fined approximately £8,200 for damaging a net camera by repeatedly hitting it with his racket during his first-round victory over Kasidit Samrej.

Medvedev will also have to foot the bill for the cost of the camera, further denting his overall prize money of 200,000 Australian dollars (approximately £102,000).

Meanwhile, France’s Corentin Moutet was also handed a substantial fine of about £12,300 for unsportsmanlike conduct, while Britain’s was penalised approximately £3,300 for smashing his racket during his third-round triumph over Aleksandar Vukic.
