The Brit lost the first two sets then called time on the match after one hour and 36 minutes.
British No.1 Draper had suffered a hip injury before Christmas that stopped him from playing any warm-up events.
After three five-set matches in Melbourne, the wear on the 23-year-old’s body took its toll.

Gauff’s TikTok message
