Stollery fundraiser: Local youth-focused organizations Music Spirit Society and Music Unbounded are bringing their third annual charity concert in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Saturday afternoon.

Among the performances will be flutist Gabrielo Arojo doing Bartók’s Suite Paysanne Hongroise, Moai Piano Trio playing the allegro modetato of Arensky’s Piano Trio, Op. 32 No. 1 and Eric Davison doing Antonio Bazzini’s Dance of the Goblins.

Friend trio Two Virtues and a Noemi, violinist Elana Zhang and separate sets by pianists Demi Alba and Yihao Zhang are also in this program for a truly noble cause.

Shaguar: Rowr-ing rockabilly and swingin’ surf rock and a pinch of punk, Shaguar certainly has one of the best band names in town.

They also turn out to be a total hoot on that Blues on Whyte dance floor, playing anything from The Cars to Prince to The Stray Cats, with a dose of vintage TV themes thrown in.

With “House Hobbit” Ms. Lily up front on vocals — “the love child of the polyamorous marriage between Betty Boop, Alfred E. Neuman and Dame Edna” — you surely get the vibe by now.

Bring your favourite drunken uncle and get ready to sweat!

Details: 9:30 p.m. at Blues on Whyte (10329 82 Ave.), $5 cover

Banff Mountain Film Fest World Tour (2024): Running three days with a sold-out Friday kicking it off, this long-running Track ‘N Trail cinematic buffet of mountain-adventure beauty still has two programs — one Track, one Trail just to get that branding in — of 10 shorts each.

Dune cycling, river water-skiing and of course good ol’ mountain climbing are all up on the big screen in Edmonton’s very best theatre — come down and see what may be your next passion done by the amateurs and jaw-dropper pros.
