It’s not just inviting emerald and turquoise waters here, although Ponzo has plenty.

Rather, this Italian spot is home to enchanting blue caves, rich flora and fauna and an impressive amount of wildlife.

Wild mouflon, cory’s shearwater, manx shearwater, short finned squids and thresher sharks all call this spot home with Ponzo’s remote location providing the perfect sanctuary for all.

Public transport is nearly as non-existent as it gets owing to Ponzo’s exclusivity, with the region being ideal for leisurely strolls soaking up the immense Italian vibes felt at every corner.

A walk around Ponzo and you’ll be greeted with sights of brightly coloured houses, a bustling harbour with beachfront restaurants scattered throughout.

A seat at one of the region’s many eateries here offers the chance to watch the sunset on this magical spot enjoying delights such as a dish made with ziti, tomatoes, Pecorino Romano cheese and capers known as pasta Ponza or pasta all’amatriciana – a traditional dish from the Pontine Islands.

When taking a break from the endless strolls and culinary delights on offer at Ponza, there are a number of must-visit sights including exploring at The Caves of Pilate, a visit to the Pontian Botanical Garden and an adrenaline-filled trek up the highest summit above sea level at Monte Guardia.

There’s also a terrace by the lighthouse at the end of Via Molo Musco, serving up some of the most beautiful views of the region.
