Express Sport picks out six potential jobs for Fury.
Promoter
Frank Warren says he would welcome Fury at Queensbury Promotions. The Brit’s co-promoter says the boxer still has plenty more to give to the sport.
“I’d have no problem with him getting involved with us. We’d have a good run together!” the 72-year-old told Sky Sports. “He’s got a great brain and he’s very astute.
“I hope it’s not [goodbye] because he’s got a lot to give boxing outside the ring.”
Commentator or pundit
When Fury speaks, people listen. The 36-year-old would be gold dust for any broadcaster wanting a top-tier commentator or pundit.
Fury was a pundit for Anthony Joshua’s fight with Francis Ngannou last March. He spoke eloquently and was sharp in his analysis. Providing controversial takes and inside information, viewers would be glued to Fury if he made the permanent transition to becoming a commentator or pundit.
Frank Warren says Tyson Fury has plenty more to offer to boxing
Reality TV star
Fury has already hit the screens with his popular show At Home With The Furys. The series offered viewers exclusive access to Fury’s life with his wife Paris and their children.
With Fury now retired, there could be plenty of time for a reboot of the series. Fans would love to see how Fury copes with retired life.
Retirement U-turn
The elephant in the room is that Fury has not just retired previously, he’s announced his retirement a staggering five times. The first came in 2013 when his fight with David Haye was cancelled for a second time.
Fury most recently retired after stopping Dillian Whyte in April 2022, only to return to the ring before the year was out.
Many believe Fury’s announcement this week could be a ploy to get Anthony Joshua to agree to fight. It remains to be seen whether that bout actually happens.
Trainer
As Warren says, Fury still has plenty to offer to boxing. Perhaps the best way for him to show that would be to train the next generation of talent.
There are many up and coming stars looking to fill the huge void that Fury’s retirement creates. He could help the best young talent become the Tyson Furys of tomorrow.
Doctor
Fury has previously revealed that he wants to be a doctor when he hangs up his gloves.
“I had a choice and I chose boxing first, but, after boxing, I am going to be a doctor,” he said back in 2018.
“I made that decision a few years ago. I am going to be a doctor, and I am going to help people. When I have finished in a few years, I’ll still only be in my early 30s. Then I’ll study for the next seven years to be a doctor. If I’m 40 and a qualified doctor, I’m still a young doctor. That is what I intend to do.”
Fury could now finally begin his journey towards earning a PhD.
