Michael McIntyre’s Big Show took a dramatic twist as a celebrity couple were left terror-stricken by an ‘insane’ segment that made them think their home was being burgled.
The entertainment series graced TV screens once again tonight with its renowned Midnight Gameshow portion, in which host Michael enters sleeping celebrities’ homes before ambushing them with a high energy quiz show.
During the episode that unfolded tonight (January 18), the comedian brought his Midnight Gameshow to the residence of reality TV duo, Zara McDermott and Sam Thompson. The duo, who split post-filming, had been pranked by Zara’s sibling and had no idea about the surprise.
A locked bedroom door initially threw the production team into chaos, with Michael’s sudden knocking inciting a burglary scare amidst the pair. After tentatively opening the door, they were greeted by the Midnight Gameshow crew and looked visibly relieved.
“I thought we were being burgled,” Zara said as a shower of confetti was poured over the couple. Echoing her sentiment, Sam also confessed, “I thought we were being burgled.”
Sam had initially opened the door brandishing a ‘weapon’
Don’t miss…
“You poor things I’m so sorry,” Michael said. “We can only imagine how terrifying that was. I’m so, so sorry.”
Before the segment aired, McIntyre confessed to the couple in front of the studio audience: “It’s the first time I’ve ever entered someone’s home without both of your knowledge,” and disclosed that he was unaware of the bedroom door being locked.
“Unfortunately I have got the key to the house, I go up the stairs and I’ve tried to open the door and it was locked from the inside. So I suppose we should watch it. It’s so insane.”

Michael also let slip that some parts of the segment were edited out before airing, including a moment where Sam initially confronted him ‘with a weapon’, reports .
“They eventually opened the door, actually, its not in the show and I probably shouldn’t be saying this. He had a weapon! ” he shared. “I could have died that night on The Midnight Gameshow by the hands of Sam Thompson.”
