The programme welcomed two new male contenders to go against the powerful gladiators on Saturday night (January 18) in an all-new series helmed by and his son Barney.
But just minutes into the new series, fans had two complaints. Plenty were demanding a presenting shake-up, with a female host introduced, while others were threatening to “switch off” as they worried the iconic theme song had been changed.
One viewer tweeted: “I swear to god, I thought #Gladiators had ditched the original theme tune with that intro. I was ready to RIOT!” before realising thankfully, the music had stayed the same with a slightly different starting note.
Someone else agreed: “#Gladiators I was close to losing my s**t then. Thought hmmm new intro music and then it hit!”

Another fan pondered: “#Gladiators needs more women. A female presenter would be great.” And someone else agreed: “I thought they’d add a female presenter to this year’s lineup to shake things up. Barney is great in Casualty but not brilliant on #Gladiators.”
