The experts say that chocolate should be kept in your cupboard instead of in the fridge, as this appliance may be too cold for your delicious treats.

They said: “To ensure your chocolate retains its richest flavour and smooth texture, store it in a cool, dark place rather than the refrigerator.

“The optimal temperature range for chocolate is between 18 to 21 degrees Celsius.

“This temperature prevents it from melting while allowing its complex cocoa notes to shine through.”

However, at the same time, you should take care not to keep your chocolate near any heat sources – as this can quickly lead to a spoiled bar.

The experts added: “Protect your chocolate from heat sources and strong odours to maintain its quality.

“Excessive heat can cause chocolate to melt or develop a white, powdery surface known as bloom, while strong odours can seep into the chocolate, altering its delicate flavour profile.”

Once you’ve opened your bar of chocolate, the experts recommed keeping it fresh by either wrapping it in foil, or putting it back in its original packaging if it’s resealable.

They said: “This prevents exposure to air and moisture, which can degrade its taste and texture over time, ensuring every bite is as delicious as the first.

“The temperature at which you store your chocolate significantly impacts its texture and flavour. Higher temperatures allow the aromatic cocoa notes to become more pronounced, so aim to keep your chocolate at a steady 18 to 21 degrees Celsius for the best taste experience.”
