The water flosser has been described as ‘powerful’
As the daughter of a , I’ve always been conscious about my dental hygiene. Brushing my teeth two to three times daily, flossing every night and regular check-ups have been part of my routine since childhood.
So, it’s hardly shocking that this Christmas, I asked for what some might consider a rather mundane gift – a water flosser. Several friends had recently mentioned using water flossers, with one even claiming their dentist noticed its use during a check-up.
Intrigued, I decided to add a water flosser to my regimen, hoping it would further ensure the of my gums and teeth. However, it’s worth noting that Oral-B advises not to replace traditional flossing with a water flosser but to incorporate both into your routine, along with brushing your teeth at least twice daily.
A water flosser can be a more suitable choice for those with sensitive gums, braces or dexterity issues. While I don’t have these problems, it seemed like a good option for me, someone keen on maintaining excellent oral health.
The could be just what you need, dubbed as “powerful” and “easy to use” by satisfied users. Not only has this dental hygiene must-have become an unexpected festive favourite, but it’s also on sale – with Amazon offering a 23% discount, reports .

Unintentionally, I received the as a gift, but “thorough” turned out to be the perfect descriptor for this indispensable gadget.

Branwen loves the gift
From the moment I first used it, its design made it clear how to operate – it features an ‘on/off’ button that requires a quick press to start and stop, a lid for the water tank at the back, and the device also offers different flossing modes – ‘soft’, ‘normal’ and ‘pulse’.
As expected, was initially set to the ‘normal’ mode, which I found too harsh on my teeth, so I switched it to the ‘soft’ mode to ease into using the device.
In my view, the ‘soft’ mode is equally powerful and I’ve kept it on this setting ever since. I use it every night, in conjunction with a dental floss stick and brushing my teeth.
On the third use of the water flosser, I noticed one tooth felt slightly sensitive, so after flossing, I applied toothpaste for sensitive teeth as a precaution, which seemed effective.
Each time I’ve used my teeth feel noticeably cleaner, which is apparent when I follow up with a dental stick and find that threading the nylon between my teeth is much easier than before.
The experience is akin to having a deep clean, scale and polish from a dental hygienist.
While I’m genuinely pleased with this purchase, it’s worth noting that this device is incredibly powerful, which can be both a blessing and a curse. On the upside, you can rest assured that this device will deliver as promised.
However, it may take some time to adjust to its power initially. During my initial uses of I struggled to control its force direction.
But, as I soon discovered, the trick is to position the jet in your mouth and close it before turning it on. The jet spray’s direction is clear, allowing you to guide the flossing process.
Just remember to turn it off before opening your mouth to spit out the water. Another factor to consider before buying is the item’s size; it’s quite large, with a 300ml attached water tank and a height of 32cm (including the jet tips).
Nonetheless, this is an excellent device for those new to water flossing. It’s a potent tool that helps maintain clean, healthy gums and teeth.
Priced just under £30, it could be the perfect device to try if you’re considering incorporating water flossing into your oral care routine.
On Amazon, the gadget has earned an across a whopping 22,000 reviews. A satisfied customer hailed it as a “brilliant” flosser, remarking: “I’ve always struggled with using tape floss or interdental brushes, so this is a game changer for me.”
They continued, “I’ve used it daily since getting it. It’s easy to use, impressively powerful, and the charge lasted for a good 21 days. I found cold water a little too uncomfortable for me, so I just add a little warm water to take the edge off.”
However, it seems the product didn’t meet everyone’s expectations, with one disgruntled reviewer stating: “I bought this water-flosser to replace a different make that had worked well but stopped working after a couple of months. The Hangsun was delivered really promptly.
“What wasn’t clear from the description on Amazon – or from the initial email response from Customer Service, when I contacted them – was that there is no choice of pressure settings for the jet of water that it delivers.”
