While Spain may be a popular destination for its affordable holidays and stunning beaches, experts have issued a stark warning that the dream holiday could quickly turn sour if Brits fail to heed a particular law. They are urging those planning a trip to sunny Spain to think carefully about their beach location, especially among the 4.6 million British vapers or six million smokers.

Nicotine and vaping specialists at WickdUp have highlighted the serious problems that could arise for unsuspecting holidaymakers caught vaping on Spanish beaches – including a hefty fine of £1,600 (2,000 euros). In contrast, in the UK, there is no law against vaping in public spaces, and it’s typically permitted at outdoor events, although individual businesses or venues can set their own rules.

While Spain is generally seen as relaxed regarding sales and regulations, a recent rule prohibits smoking and vaping on beaches. Not only is smoking banned on all Spanish beaches, but 28 beaches on the Balearic Islands, 10 in Barcelona, and others nationwide have now included vaping in this ban.

Vaping expert Mike Byers from has issued a stark reminder to holidaymakers: “While it may be tempting to sneakily use your vape whilst relaxing on the beach, it is important to abide by local regulations and laws. Some countries lack the vape shop culture we have in the UK, so stocking up on disposable vapes and liquids can also be important – if that country allows travellers to include it in their luggage.”

He further advised: “Many EU countries still allow vaping in public spaces, but make sure you check local jurisdiction before paying any holiday deposits. If in doubt, use Gov.uk to seek advice whenever unsure and stay up to date with laws and regulations in every country.”

For those keen on vaping while soaking up the sun, Mike recommended destinations like Bulgaria, Greece, and Croatia as ideal for Brits.
