Brian May’s wife shares health update after Queen star’s ‘scary’ stroke

s health scare has taken a positive turn, with his wife Anita Dobson sharing that the guitarist’s condition is now “stable” after he suffered a stroke last year.

The actress gave an update whilst at Cirque du Soleil this week and revealed how the pair spent Christmas. She admitted: “The start of the year has been up and down. We both had the flu but we took the kids to Lapland. 15 of them.

“Brian is stable now. Brian has never been happier since we moved. For me it’s been a curveball as I’m a London girl born and bred so going to the countryside to a house that needs a lot of work was a bit of a shock.”

She also continued: “It makes you realise that at any minute it could be you. You don’t have to necessarily be old, it could be anyone.”

In a candid revelation last September, Brian May described his stroke as “minor” but “scary”, recalling how he was whisked away to Frimley Hospital in Surrey with “blue lights flashing, the lot – very exciting”.

Merely a week following what he termed a “health hiccup”, the guitar legend joyfully confirmed his ability to play once again, despite initially losing control of one arm.

Anita, who has three step-children with Brian from his previous marriage to Christine Mullen, has previously recalled the scare when Brian suffered a heart attack in 2020.

Initially dismissing it as a gardening injury, Brian now recognises he “could have died”.

After suffering his health scare, he had three stentstiny tubes that keep blocked arteries openfitted into his heart aiding his recovery. Opening up about his “minor stroke” in September, he encouraged fans to refrain from sending sympathetic messages.

“I really don’t want sympathy,” he asserted. “Please don’t do that because it’ll clutter up my inbox and I hate that.”
