The Government has denied a request for key documents relating to UK from MP Rupert Lowe, he claims.

The MP for Great Yarmouth told that officials are “intent on hiding the facts”.

He said he asked the Ministry of Justice for all court transcripts related to what he referred to as “Pakistani rape gangs” but said this was rejected because of the cost it would entail.

Mr Lowe said: “I requested the release all court transcripts related to the Pakistani rape gangs. That request was denied, due to reasons of cost.

“They can find £133 million for foreign aid to this year but refuse to fund vital transparency. The British people need to see the full, unedited truth. It’s vile, it’s harrowing, it’s disgusting – but it’s necessary.

“Evidently, the Government is intent on hiding the facts. I am now urgently exploring other routes to release as much information from the trials as possible.”

In a response seen by Express.co.uk, the MoJ said: “The release of court transcripts to interested parties in relation to individual court cases is a matter for the trial judge to consider.

“There is a standard process all applicants must follow to request and access a Crown Court transcript. An application form must be submitted to the court where the trial took place, and it is then considered by the judge.

“The provision of transcripts is also subject to payment of the relevant charge to cover the cost of transcription. Additionally, in certain high-profile cases, the judge’s sentencing remarks are published online on .”

It comes as Sir has come under intense pressure to establish a full national inquiry into the activities of grooming gangs in the UK.

At least 1,400 children were subjected to sexual exploitation in Rotherham, one of many towns affected, between 1997 and 2013, according to a 2014 report by Professor Alexis Jay.

This was followed by the statutory Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA), also chaired by Professor Jay. She found in a final report published in 2022 that networks in all parts of England and Wales were sexually exploiting children.

The PM has accused critics of “spreading lies and misinformation” and claims he tackled prosecutions “head-on” while making reforms.

Police define grooming as group-based child sexual exploitation.

There were 717 such offences reported to police in 2023 and 572 in the first nine months of 2024.

Group-based child sexual exploitation made up 17% of group-based child sexual offences and 3.7% of total child sexual abuse cases in 2023.

The majority of grooming offences reported to police – 70% in 2023 and 63% in the first nine months of 2024 – were carried out by white perpetrators.

Previously unreleased figures from all 43 forces in England and Wales show that Pakistanis are up to four times more likely to be responsible for child sex grooming offences reported to police when compared to the general population.

An HM Courts and Tribunals Service spokesperson said: ” The release of court transcripts to interested parties is a matter for the relevant judge to consider.”
