Police have provided an update on the circumstances surrounding the death of Hollyoaks star Paul Danan, who tragically died at the age of 46. Avon and Somerset Police expressed their condolences to the family of the actor in a statement, providing further details about his untimely death.
The police statement to the PA news agency read: “Officers attended a property in Brislington, Bristol, at around 5.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 January) where sadly a man in his 40s was declared deceased by paramedics.
“His family have been notified and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for people to respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
The statement added that his death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a file for the coroner.
This comes after earlier today in a heartfelt statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of @pauldanan at just 46 years old,” they wrote.

They praised Paul for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, describing him as a beacon of light to many.
The statement concluded: “During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time.”
It was later revealed that (January 16) over drug and driving offences, reports .
Paul was due to enter a plea at Warrington Magistrates’ Court in Cheshire, having been charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis, according to court documents.
Just six months prior to his tragic death, Paul had a near-death experience. He was rushed to hospital and received intensive care treatment following respiratory failure.

Paul had been candid about his addiction struggles
The soap actor and reality star developed a vaping addiction after quitting cigarettes in 2021. He believed that vaping was a “healthier” alternative.
However, he soon became “obsessed” with vaping. He confessed last year: “Everywhere I went I’d have my vape with me. I’d always have one in my hand, I would even go to sleep with it, like a comfort thing.”
Unfortunately, Paul’s vaping habit led to him collapsing and being rushed to Whipps Cross Hospital in London. He was treated in intensive care and also contracted pneumonia.
Paul Danan was best known for his appearances on Hollyoaks, Love Island and Celebrity Big Brother.
“I was dead – it’s a miracle I’m here. I’m upstairs puffing away on my vape then suddenly I lost my breath and collapsed. My family called for an ambulance and started giving me CPR, then police arrived and took over before paramedics took me to hospital.”
He attributed his critical state to vaping, adding: “I was on a machine in ICU and ended up with pneumonia. My family were warned that I might not make it through the night. I’m so lucky.”
Paul received an ominous warning from his doctor who told him that if he took up smoking again, he might find himself dependent on an oxygen tank.
