star Saif Ali Khan has undergone emergency surgery after he was stabbed by an intruder who broke into his home.
On Thursday morning (January 16) at around 2.30am, an individual broke into the actor’s home in Mumbai, where he lives with his movie star Kareena Kapoor Khan, 44, and their two sons.
According to Indian news reports, police went through CCTV footage taken from outside the Khan’s home, but no one eas seen in the two lifts, the lobby or entering the building within two hours of the attack.
A senior police officer told the Indian Express that they suspect the accused may have used the building shaft the enter the 12th floor apartment.
Khan, 54, sustained six wounds in the attack, with one deep incision near his spince, the Press Trust of India news agency said, citing a doctor at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital.

According to The Indian Express, a female employee at Khan’s home screamed to alert other family member at around 2am. She was also injured during teh attack and is reportedly being treated.
Khan’s team have reassured fans that the actor is now “out of danger”, insisting: “Kha has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress.
Speaking to reporters after completing surgery, Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital said the actor “sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine.
“A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team.”
A statement from Mumbai Police told outlets: “An unknown person enered Actor Said Ali Khan’s residence and argued with his maid late last night.
“When the actor tried to intervene and pacify the man, he attacked Said Ali Khan and injured him. Police are investigating the matter.”
Kapoor Khan said in a statement that the family were fine and requested “the media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the police are already doing their due investigations.”
Khan, who is also an established movie producer, has been featured in over 70 films and television series throughout his decorated career.
He is the son of former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagroe. The actor won multiple awards for his roles in Hindi cinema, including seven Filmfare Awards.
In 2010, he received the Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civillian award.
