And Pallister believes fans should remember his quality – which he showcased as recently as in the previous game by tyrannising ‘s at Anfield.

The Old Trafford great has pinpointed Dalot’s loan to AC Milan in the 2020/21 season as the turning point in his United career.

“Well, it’s not natural for him, is it, on the left-hand side? I mean, listen, I think he was fantastic against the other week,” Pallister told Express Sport with Betano.

“They obviously pinpointed that left-sided area where Trent was playing right back, and I’ve got to say he destroyed Trent on the day.

“I think he’s been a really good player for . He’s covered a multitude of roles. He’s been very professional.

“And after his early days, where I think he struggled, I think since he came back from the loan [at Milan], he’s been one of our most consistent performers.

“So I have no issue with Diogo Dalot. I think he’s a good player and a player I would think that would look to keep.”

Dalot will return to contention for Sunday’s clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.
