Coleen Rooney says ‘ITV won’t be happy’ after son let slip I’m A Celeb secret

Coleen Rooney has shared a humorous anecdote about her son accidentally revealing secrets about her stint at school before she headed to the jungle.

The television star graced the This Morning couch on Thursday (January 16), chatting with hosts Cat Deeley and about her adventure in the ITV reality series.

Coleen, who was the runner-up on I’m a Celeb in December 2024, narrowly missing out on the crown to McFly’s Danny Jones, opened up during the interview.

Ben probed into how Coleen managed to keep her participation in the show under wraps until the official announcement was made.

“There’s that moment when you get asked, but then you have to keep it a secret as well, of course, because the production company wants to keep it a secret,” he remarked.

He then questioned when she decided to inform her children, considering she has both older and younger ones, suggesting, “When did you decide to tell the boys… because you’ve got little ones and big ones. The big ones probably could have been told and keep a secret, but the little ones must have been too excited, surely?” reports .

Coleen admitted that initially, she kept the news to herself, but once the media started speculating, she had to clue in her older children.

“I didn’t tell no one but it came out in the newspaper, so obviously people started asking me the questions, so I was just raising my eyebrows saying, ‘I can’t say anything’,” she recounted.

However, it was the younger ones who couldn’t contain their excitement, as Coleen revealed, “But the boys, I told the older ones and they were fine with it, but the younger ones overheard.”

“We’d watched it as a family for years, and the younger ones would dip in and out because it’s late at night. But then they were excited once they knew I was actually going in.

“My 11-year-old came in from school one day and said, ‘Everyone’s asking me if you’re going in the jungle’.”

After asking her son what he’d said to his friends, Coleen said that he simply replied: “I just said yeah, she is, and I’m not going with her.”

Cat and Ben quickly burst out laughing, to which Coleen then quipped: “ITV won’t be happy about that!”

Elsewhere in the interview, Coleen revealed that it was really “special” to see the pride in her four children after she returned home from Australia. “It’s nice that they’ve really took something away from it and enjoyed it,” she concluded.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
