Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars

Levoit is known for their top-of-the-line HEPA purifiers, which use triple filtration to rid air of pollutants, smoke, dander and allergens. (They’re also designed to be whisper-quiet, emitting noise as low as 25 decibels, or approximately the sound of breathing).

We have a few models on the list ahead. You can consult its comparison chart for a simple breakdown of how each purifier differs.

This miniature model is certified as one of the most efficient purifiers on the market, according to its 2024 Energy Star rating.

It will operate most efficiently in rooms up to 187square feet.

Promising review: “I bought this and one other air filter from a different brand to try, I’ve never used these before and I thought the other ones replacement filters might be less costly than this version. So easier on the wallet than two of these.

I’ve had this for a month and a half. I got it due to some allergy issues. I had an eczema flare which can happen with allergies. Since then the flare ups went away. I noticed my dogs allergies have been alleviated as well. He had a runny nose, and since I got the two filters he’s been good.

This one is extremely quiet compared to my other filter. I don’t mind white noise, I actually kind of prefer it especially for sleep. So if you hate noise this one is a great pick. At max it’s barely audible with a light air flow sound. I like that it has energy star approved. It picks up fur and dander, and I can even tell it’s doing it’s job due to the weekly cleans of the filter. Where as the other I have is harder to tell.

There is a warranty, another reason I took a chance on it. There also is no light like some other air filters, which is better for sleep. It’s been going non stop now , and is still running smooth.” — Brayden Ellis

An impressive Honeywell option

Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars

This Honeywell version harnesses four tiers of cleaning power to remove microscopic particles in your air, like dust mite debris, smoke, pollen, dust and dander. Another plus? You’ll never have to purchase a replacement filter — its internal filter is designed to be removed, washed and popped back in once it’s “full.”

This is designed to purify medium sized rooms up to 150 square feet.

Promising review: “It’s crazy to think, but it’s absolutely true that this air purifier has been life changing not only for myself but also my son.

My entire life, I’ve been breathing through one nostril. My son too is always congested. Our home is spotlessly clean. Within a week of purchasing this purifier, (and I do run it with the charcoal filter) both my son and I have been able to breathe freely through both nostrils. That’s not just a matter of convenience, my running and stamina have improved and as proof my VO2 level (volumetric oxygen my lungs can absorb) from my fitness tracker has increased by 10 percent.

It all sounds too good to be true, but if you’ve been on the border trying to decide, just do it.

I would not buy another machine because this has a washable filter, and the regular fan speed consumes 4 watts, dleep 2 watts, so it really costs nothing to run versus other machines that you have to buy expensive filters and consume 10 to 15 times more electricity multiplied by 24/7/365.

If there’s something I’d change on this machine as a manufacturer, I would have a memory setting for the last fan speed before powering off and get rid of the useless brightness function and just supply dim lights.

Relax. Breathe in. Breathe out. Enjoy your new life.” — Chris Yates
