star Mike Brewer has revealed his top car brand on the road with a German marque his clear favourite.

The host of the restoration show was the iconic sportscar brand with Mike praising the intricate engineering.

Mike stressed he thought it was “brilliant” to drive a Porsche with motorists likely to “smile” while behind the wheel.

He also praised designers for sticking the engines at the back of the car, one of Porsche’s stand-out features not often replicated by other top firms.

Mike explained the reasons behind his love for the sportscars in a feature-length interview with

The TV star said: “I love Porsche. I love the stupid engineering.

“Technically it shouldn’t work should it? Half a tonne hanging out over a rear axle, it shouldn’t work. It should be spitting you off left, right and centre down the road.

“But they are engineered in such a way and they have thought about the engineering.

“All Formula 1 car engines are in the rear and there’s a reason for that because they handle better, it feels better being pushed along the road than pulled along the road.

“And I’d say that’s true with a Porsche. It feels brilliant to be behind the wheel, the engineering is mindblowing and it just makes you smile every time you drive it.”

Mike is a well-known Porsche enthusiast and is working on restoring a historic Porsche 911/964 Turbo in his spare time.

Mike had but quickly admitted that to bring the car up to scratch.

But in a recent update, Mike revealed work was progressing and admitted he had taken an unusual path.

He said: “We are doing some design work on my Porsche 964 but we are not going to this extreme.

“I think I’m probably one of the only people in the Porsche enthusiast world at the moment that’s not buying a 964 and backdating it.”

Mike has previously admitted his love for the brand extends back to his childhood when he spotted one growing up in London.

He commented; “For me as a young impressionable man wanting to succeed in life, for me it was always going to be a 911.

“I fell in love with the shape and the look of them well before I got to drive one.”
