Mam Tor has been overrun by tourists in recent weeks
Tourists have started to descend on a beauty spot in the Peak District to watch the sunrise, with some being labelled as “selfish”.
Mam Tor near Castleton has gone viral on and , with visitors flocking there early in the morning to see the stunning sunrise over the surrounding hills.
The closest parking option to Mam Tor fills up quickly, resulting in many visitors parking along the surrounding roads causing blockages and closures.
Residents have raised concerns about cars being abandoned on both sides of the road, causing traffic and safety issues.
It comes after the Winnats Pass, a road between Mam Tor and Castleton, was closed by police on Sunday (January 12) for safety reasons, reports.

Derbyshire Police said that double-parked cars had blocked the road. Motorists who parked poorly were fined, while those who parked dangerously faced having their vehicles towed.
A police spokesperson added: “If you can’t find a space where you first intended to visit then don’t simply dump your car, your selfish actions could be the difference between someone receiving life-saving care or not.”
Even some of those who have made it to Mam Tor have been left underwhelmed due to sheer number of people also there to see the sunrise. One TikToker claimed that climbing the hill was “the worst mistake” as it was super crowded and windy.

And a seasoned hiker complained: “Tik tok has made it famous and ppl with no hiking experience are going. Especially in this weather you need to be prepared and check the wind conditions, wear base layers, hiking shoes with grip, airbreaker. You can’t just go as if your going for a walk.”
One visitor who made the trek on a Saturday also shared some complaints, writing: “I went, insanely busy, no respect shown by anyone, drinking, smoking weed abd chaos. would never go on a Saturday again.”
While a third added: “Bro it’s such an average hill what is the hype? I see better sunrises on the way to work.”
