Sir David Jason opened up on his most recent health struggle
Only Fools and Horses actor has opened up on fresh health struggles, as he reveals that ”I’d be crippled”.
On a new update about his current health, Sir David, who’s set to turn 85 next month, admitted that he has recently been suffering from leg issues likely induced by a recent to fit a new titanium hip, last October.
But, despite the pain he has suffered in recent months, he is thankful that such procedures are possible at all, as he told Woman’s Weekly: “My god, aren’t we lucky that we can do that? If we weren’t living in the time when these operations are normal every day, you would be crippled.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with the Sunday Times last year, Sir David revealed that it wasn’t only his mobility issues that have been affected as he has grown older.

The Del Boy star said he has also noticed another aspect of his health on the decline: “My memory isn’t what it used to be … Most of us reach this point when things aren’t quite as bright as they used to be.”
However, despite his recent mobility issues caused by his hip operation, he counts himself lucky that he otherwise remains in good health, remarking that he’s never had to call on the help of a hearing aid or glasses.
In an incredible career spanning across six decades, Jason’s first steps into the world of on-screen acting came in 1965 when he landed a role in the panto, Mother Goose.

As several high-profile roles followed, it was perhaps his portrayal of Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in the ‘s hit sitcom, Only Fools and Horses that he is most well-known for.
Having first aired in 1981, it wasn’t long before Sir David started to be recognsied for his remarkable contribution to British television having picked up five BAFTA’s for his role on the show.
More recently, in a move away from the world of acting early last year, Sir David starred alongisde Jay Blades in David & Jay’s Touring Toolshed as the pair traversed the country meeting others who share a love for craftsmanship and restoration.
