Russia’s latest tactics in Ukraine war as troops use motorbikes and ‘cope cages’

In a show of force, the Russian military today (10 Jan) unveiled their latest tactics in the ongoing invasion of . The propaganda-style footage showcased the use of all-terrain motorcycles in the frontline town of Kurakhove, which claims to have seized this week.

Additional images revealed an attack vehicle equipped with intricate ‘cope cages’ designed to shield against drone attacks.

The Russian MOD stated: “With the help of motorcycles, units fighting in Kurakhovo and other directions of the special military operation deliver the necessary materiel for various purposes: food, water, communication means, and ammunition.”

They further added: “Platoons equipped with motorbikes created due to high mobility and low visibility of motor vehicles are actively used in the special military operation zone.”

Further details disclosed that the motorcycle soldiers belong to the 5th Separate Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade, established in the summer of 2024.

Another scene displayed a heavily camouflaged BMD-4M combat vehicle, which the Russians claimed was assigned to annihilate a group of infantry in a stronghold in one of the border areas of Kursk region.

The Russian MOD referred to the vehicle as supporting “bold raids” by paratroopers on AFU (Armed Forces of ) positions “both day and night, preventing the enemy’s personnel rotations”.
