was slammed on after doubt was cast on whether she would remain as Chancellor.
On Monday (January 13), refused to guarantee Ms Reeves’ long-term future in No 11 as the value of the pound fell and government borrowing costs remained high.
Despite saying he has “full confidence” in Ms Reeves and that she is doing a “fantastic job”, the Prime Minister declined to say whether her future was secure in No 11 for the duration of the parliament.
His official spokesperson later said the pair will work together “throughout the whole of this parliament”.
The comments were discussed on Tuesday’s instalment (January 14) of GB News Breakfast, hosted by and Ellie Costello.
The duo were joined by Fraser Myers, who claimed the spokesperson’s response was “panicky” and “so over the top”.
Relaying Mr Starmer’s comments, Fraser continued: “I’m not sure she is doing a fantastic job. We had no growth in the last quarter. Borrowing costs have reached a 15-year high. The pound has slid to a 14-month low.
“If that is ‘s definition of a fantastic job then the UK economy is in deep trouble.”
