will be unhappy with decision to favour Toby Collyer from the bench as fought off late onslaught on Sunday. The Brazilian midfielder has grown used to watching games from the bench since Amorim replaced in November.

And it was no different in United’s FA Cup third-round victory at the Emirates Stadium, which went all the way to penalties.

The Red Devils survived ‘s wave of attacks after Diogo Dalot’s second-half sending-off left the visitors playing with 10 men for over 70 minutes.

Amorim utilised his squad to the max by making five in-game changes, but Casemiro was one of three unused outfield substitutes alongside Antony and Christian Eriksen.

The 32-year-old has been snubbed while sitting on the bench in seven of Amorim’s 13 matches in charge, starting just four times.

And Ferdinand believes the United boss instead trusting Collyer in the 81st minute of a high-stakes cup match may have been the final straw.

The former United defender is convinced Casemiro would listen to offers if they arrived before the January transfer deadline amid reported interest in Saudi Arabia and the MLS.

“Toby Collyer was excellent when he came on. The energy levels were huge, through the roof. Testament to him,” Ferdinand explained.

“Is the player happy to be on the bench? I don’t think Casemiro will be happy. At any point in his career, he’s never been on the bench.

“So if he’s on the bench now, if an offer came in, he’d listen to it. But also the club, you can see now they are bringing on Toby Collyer.

“If they get an offer they require [for Casemiro], that they want, I don’t think it will be something that will be difficult to happen.

“If he wants to go and play football, who are we to stand in his way at this stage of his career?”

Collyer impressed during pre-season and was tipped to become the next academy player to seal a breakthrough into the first team after Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

The 21-year-old became the 251st graduate in the Community Shield match against but found opportunities hard to come by after that Wembley date.

He had last started United’s 7-0 Carabao Cup win against Leicester City at left-back before Amorim introduced him in north London.

And given he possesses the energy and intensity that Casemiro and Eriksen lack in the twilight of their careers, Amorim will likely call on him more for the remainder of the season.
