It’s best to maintain patios to avoid moss growth
However, for those facing an already significant amount of moss growth, one of the methods Aaron advised is to use a combination of boiling water and a squirt of dish soap as the initial countermeasure.
He said: “Boiling water and dish soap is a gentle and eco-friendly combo to remove the moss.”
To execute this technique effectively, pour boiling water laced with dish soap over the affected area of the patio and apply some diligent elbow grease using a stiff broom.

Soap and boiling water can be used to clean patios
Aaron elaborated: “The water-soap combo should create enough lubrication to remove any mossy layer sitting on your patio.”
Another “excellent” method he recommends is the use of a steam cleaner on the patio which takes five minutes. He claimed that this is one of his favourite solutions.
Aaron explained: “It is eco-friendly and simply uses the high steam temperatures to kill off the patio moss.”
However, the thing to remember when using this technique is that moss loves damp. So drying off the patio is important once you’ve finished.
Aaron insisted that while the “most powerful approach” is to use bleach, it’s a nasty one for you, your green space, and any four-legged friends.
Should all else fail, reaching for the bleach should be your last resort. The “best way” to tackle it is by diluting it with water at a ratio of 10 to one and giving the mossy patches a good spray.
After letting it sit for 15 minutes post-spray, get stuck in with a stiff-bristled brush and then rinse away the remnants with clean water.
