UK weather maps show exact date 400 miles wall of snow hitting numerous counties

The UK is yet to escape the wintry weather as are set to cover a 400 mile plus stretch of the country towards the end of this month.

It comes as weather forecasts from a rush of snow layered up right from Southampton, all the way up to Edinburgh reaching harsh depths of up to 8cm.

The for January 24, shows a cold blast moving in from the atlantic and hitting the UK.

From 6am Monday 24 January, Manchester and Newcastle experience snow and showers of rain, throughout the day.

By 12pm, the harsh conditions would have spread south, hitting the Midlands, and Southampton and across up north, targetting Edinburgh.

The majority of the hit will be taken by Wales and the area is nearly completely shaded in white – indicating snow. Parts of the UK will see snow depths reaching 8cm as it gets to midday.

The predicted weather comes after the country experienced a period of heavy snow and freezing conditions with yellow weather warnings and health alerts issued nationwide.

On Monday, 25 flood alerts and one flood warning are in place for areas across the UK. The alerts issued are for the next five days with warnings that “land, roads and some properties may flood”.

However, between Friday 17 January and Sunday, 26 January, the predicts that temperatures will reach “a little above average” and patches of frost and fog could be “under clearer skies and lighter winds”.

So before the snow blitzes through the UK again, we may have a little bit of time to get ourselves prepared.

Today:

Dry and cold in the south today with some sunny spells. Cloudier in the north with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Windy in the northern areas with gales in northern Scotland. Mild in the north.

Tonight:

Staying largely cloudy across with north with light outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Dry and cold in the south with some clear spells, allowing for patchy fog and frost.

Tuesday:

Largely cloudy and dry for most, although outbreaks of drizzle will continue across western hills. Some brighter spells are possible in southern England and eastern Scotland. Mild for many.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Largely dry, although outbreaks of rain and strong winds will push across western Scotland at times. Largely cloudy and mild with fog occasionally forming in the south.
