The Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they hugged people and spoke to emergency crews at the Pasadena Community Centre in Los Angeles. The fires have destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people in the area so far, with about 16 others still missing.

Actress Justine Bateman took to X to criticise the couple, dubbing their appearance a “repulsive photo-op”.

She wrote: ” and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. What a repulsive “photo op” they achieved. They are “touring the damage”? Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster Tourists. #PalisadesFire.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been contacted for comment.

It is believed the Sussexes, who live in Montecito, some 90 miles from Los Angeles, have donated clothing, children’s items and other essential supplies for people affected by the fires. They are also believed to have invited friends and loved ones who had been forced to evacuate into their homes.
