Bruno Lobo rescued the woman as she appeared to be drowning.
Brazilian Olympian Bruno Lobo has been hailed for rescuing a woman who seemed to be drowning off the coast of Sao Luis. The kitesurfer, 31, spotted the female struggling while he was training – and was able to film the footage using a camera attached to his board.
Lobo later uploaded the video to , and described how he reacted to a “cry for help” before seeing a girl was “drowning” in the sea.
He is then seen speeding towards the woman and asking her to jump on his back, before taking her safely back to shore.
Lifeguards were already waiting for the pair when they returned. And Lobo described how the woman was then treated before issuing a warning to his followers about the perils of the water.
“Lifeguards carried out first aid on the seashore and thank God everything went well,” Lobo wrote. “Be warned about the danger of the sea, rivers and any place you don’t know because the current in some places is usually very strong.”
Lobo admitted that when he headed out to the water at around 5:40pm, the conditions “were not the best.” However, he was intent on texting out his new camera equipment.
