The nurse was stabbed at Royal Oldham Hospital.
The nurse was left in critical condition after being stabbed at around 11.30pm on Saturday. It’s been been claimed the stabbing was prompted by Haque becoming angry at having to wait to be seen at the A&E department.
MailOnline reported one person described as a witness claiming there was a “row with a patient”. They claimed: “It’s terrible – there was a row with a patient. I think they became angry because they had to wait to be seen. It’s scary.”
The nurse, a woman in her 50s, remains in hospital for treatment for her injuries, which are believed to be “life-changing”.
The attack happened in the A&E department of the hospital and that Haque used a “sharp instrument” that wasn’t a knife, according to Manchester Evening News.

Greater Manchester Police said they “do not believe there to be a threat to the wider public”.
The MP for Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton called the stabbing a “senseless attack” and wished the nurse a full recovery.
Jim McMahon, a local government minister, posted on Facebook: “We are all shocked at the senseless attack on a nurse in the A&E department of the Royal Oldham Hospital. Our thoughts are with the nurse, family and friends as we wish a full recovery.”
