Silent Witness is poised to make a comeback on BBC One with a two-part narrative titled Homecoming, airing its first episode on January 13 and the second on January 14.
The plot revolves around the team probing into the murder of an estate agent, killed by a claw hammer. The case reintroduces some familiar faces, but takes an unexpected twist when the murder weapon vanishes.
The episodes feature a host of guest stars, including Emilia Fox and David Caves, who both reprise their roles in the series. Scottish actress Ellie Haddington also joins the cast as Meg McGrath.

Ellie, aged 69, will be recognisable to many viewers. The actress, born in Aberdeen, has graced numerous popular TV shows and films throughout her career.
Her breakthrough came in 1995 when she secured the role of Josie Clarke in ITV’s . Ellie featured in over 100 episodes of the soap before departing in 1996, reports .
She subsequently made guest appearances in Heartbeat, Casualty, The Bill, Wing and a Prayer, Midsomer Murders, Cutting It, Sea of Souls, Doctor Who, and Ordinary Lies.
Viewers may also recall her from ‘s Motherland where she was a regular as Marion, and Bad Girls where she played Joy Masterson.

Ellie honed her acting skills at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre school from 1975 to 1977. As the second eldest of five daughters, she disclosed that there are no other actors in her family.
She candidly shared with The Herald her reasons for pursuing acting, saying, “I failed at everything else. I think one of the great things about being an actor is you carry on playing.”
Ellie prefers to maintain a low profile when it comes to her private life. Details about her relationship status remain a mystery, and she seems to steer clear of active participation on social media platforms.
