Hamilton is gearing up for his first season with the Prancing Horse after ending a decade-long spell at . And fans are impatient to see what the seven-time world champion can do with his new machinery, as the team chase down their first Drivers’ Championship title since 2007.
January 21 has reportedly been slated for Hamilton’s first outing at the Fiorano Circuit. And Italian authorities are likely to be on high alert if, as predicted, thousands turn up to welcome the Brit and wish him well for his first campaign.
Speaking to the , journalist Robert Chinchero claims that Italy is already in ‘Hamilton mania’. He added that the streets of Maranello, and around the Fiorano Circuit, will be ‘filled with people’ to create a spectacle ‘not seen in years’.
Chinchero expects it to be ‘hard work for the police’ if supporters turn out to show Hamilton their passion and hunger to see back on top. Kimi Raikkonen was the last driver to win an individual title while driving for the Italian outfit, with his triumph coming nearly 18 years ago.
The team’s current star driver, Charles Leclerc, could only manage third place in the Drivers’ Championship last season, 81 points behind victor .
