One former player thinks he knows how to make the series “more interesting” as he feels that the Faithfuls are at a disadvantage in the popular game. recently welcomed another round of contestants, with three Traitors being chosen, as the drama and twists have already begun to unfold.

Now Ivan Brett, who appeared in series one of the show, has shared his thoughts on how the game should be played. Speaking to Express.co.uk, he joked: “I have spent far too long of my life thinking about the ins and outs of the show, so I think I’ve got quite a good perspective on it!”

Sharing his thoughts on the current casting, the former contestant said: “You’ve got a group of cast members who really know what they’re doing and have all come in with strategies and plans. I think we are seeing a lot of people realise that those plans are really good on paper, but they don’t work in real life.

“People have come in with really fun lies to tell or secrets to keep, like Charlotte with her Welsh accent. I think that was amazing on the point of arrival, it clearly was a brilliant enough thing to get her on the show but where does she go with it now?

“They’ve definitely thought about how they’re going to play the game. But once you’re in the game everything changes.”

Ivan thinks that a few changes could be made by producers to make the much-loved programme even better. He shared: “We’re in season three now of The Traitors and we need to see new things each year, otherwise it will feel samey. I’ve been making threads on Twitter, talking about the ways in which the producers can switch up the show in small ways.

“But what I haven’t talked about is the ways in which the players can. I think, hopefully, players have seen enough of this show now to be wiser to the idea that yes you have got to bring something to the table and have your own ideas about how to win. That’s what’s going to get you respect, air time and some longevity in terms of people remembering you on the show.”

Ivan continued: “I’d like to see Faithfuls being given more power. The show works because Faithfuls have very little power but they work together and can really amplify that.

“But there are lots and lots of ways in which you can take the Faithful role and give them something to do. Like certain missions so that they could receive bits of information about who the Traitors might be.

“Or maybe they can take money out of the prize pot if they can banish a certain person. They should give Faithfuls more interesting roles – give them missions, give them secret roles that feel like a third role, not a Faithful, not a Traitor but something else.

“That way it would still be a hidden identity game but it means the Faithfuls have more to do.”
