There are a few essentials to bear in mind prior to embarking on a cruise ship.

Although cruise holidays differ from most other getaways, as passengers needn’t have to worry about looking for places to eat or finding a beach where to spend the day, there are still some factors to take into consideration, particularly when preparing for the trip.

the correct types of clothing and shoes for activities is essential, including adding formal attire allowing passengers to be able to attend any type of event during their journey.

Bringing a sweater or something to keep you warm is also important to remember, as temperatures are known to drop while out at sea.

But there is also another interesting piece of advice when it comes to packing for a cruise, and it involves your bathing suit.

According to cruise travel expert , first-timers on a cruise may not be aware that when you first arrive at a ship, you’ll likely have your luggage whisked away.

This happens even prior to boarding, when you’ll be greeted by a porter taking your main luggage from you.

This is all part of the experience and is an added luxurious benefit when cruising, allowing for less hassle when embarking.

Rest assured, your luggage will be delivered back to you in your room later in the day.

As convenient as it may be to not have to lug your bag onto the ship, it can also often mean not having access to your luggage immediately after boarding. This may delay taking part in activities including sunbathing, particularly if the suitcase includes the bathing suits.

“Be sure to pack anything you think you might need for these first hours of your cruise in your carry-on bag,” noted .

“This means things like medication, for sure, but also a phone charger, a bathing suit, a hat, sunscreen and other items that will let you head straight to the pool deck to start the fun.”

The expert also noted it is unlikely cruise passengers need to take several changes with them.

Many rooms onboard cruise ships can be on the small side, meaning a large suitcase will not only be cumbersome to bring along but can also take up the much-needed space in your room.

It’s important to remember that many cruises operate on a more casual basis, which applies to people’s attire too; therefore, bringing along all your fanciest clothes is not needed.

Another important factor to remember is that most cruise ships offer self-service launderettes on cabin decks.
